I really enjoyed being afraid all the time to the point of sometimes not wanting to move from my corner. I don’t really care for sudden scares as much as the atmosphere that was prevalent in the Von Braun. What other game would allow you to do that?īTW do you guys know of any good horror game in the style of SS2. I actually got to destroy Earth with a laser (lowers head in shame). I got to play SS1 last year and despite the graphics and interface, I found it to be very good. It’s really sad that after all these years you can still buy HL in stores at a relatively premium price of $20.00 (considering its age) yet you can’t find SS2 for at least $10.00 at any store. The only thing where HL might be better than SS2 is in the AI yet SS2’s AI wasn’t bad so it wasn’t that big of a deal either. I will admit that I finished playing HL right after I had played Deus Ex (for the first time) and that might have soured my experience with HL since HL can’t hold a candle to Deus Ex. I can see that it is better than most of the strictly shooters of the time but it was not the greatest thing in gaming history. Another thing that annoyed me was that the human enemies knew where I was most of the time even though they could not have seen me because I was hiding behind something. Yet as opposed to Quake, HL did not have secret areas to find. The game play was not that different from Quake except that the enemy AI was better. I thought that HL’s story, although good, was stretched too thin.
I enjoyed SS1 and the Marathon game more too. I liked Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith more. SS2 is way better than Half-Life (like you don’t know already) in story, in game play, in atmosphere and in overall experience. This is my first post here and wanted to let you all know that I just finished playing HL and although a good game I can’t see why it was so highly praised yet SS2 never got the proper recognition among players.
